As our world has become increasingly dependent on technology, artisans and everyday crafters are finding a renewed satisfaction in making something with their own hands. Leagues of people are also finding physical and mental health benefits in handwork, framing it as a spiritual practice. Rev. Maggie Oman Shannon illustrates that you can literally "craft the crazy away" through beading and crocheting, candle-making, and collaging. In Crafting Calm: Projects and Practices for Creativity and Contemplation (Viva Editions, May 2013), a D.I.Y. guide to peace of mind, Shannon explores crafts and creativity as a spiritual practice providing enormous benefits. She takes a rich “potpourri approach” that weaves together interviews, historical facts, "Soul Craft" projects for readers, quotations, and suggested resources.
Crafting Calm inspires with its broad assortment of spiritual practices gathered from crafts communities around the world, as well as from everyday people who have adopted creative forms of spiritual practice. Organized into eight chapters that address different intentions one can hold when approaching creating, sections include crafting for calm, clarity, comfort, contemplation, connection with others and connection with spirit, offering an opportunity for conscious intention to reflect in some way—or to be a vehicle to communing—with the Divine. Each chapter presents five different practices, offering forty activities to inspire, along with a series of questions for journaling and reflection.

Friendship is the gift that keeps on giving—it makes getting through the day easier and has even been scientifically proven to improve health and longevity. Sassy and sweet, Girlfriends Forever celebrates the bonds of true friendship with love, laughter, and heartfelt care. Husbands and boyfriends are nice accessories, but girlfriends are the essential must-haves of life. As someone once said, "Friendship isn't a big thing, it's a million little things." This book of women's wisdom is a tribute to these sisters of the soul who are there every step of the way.

GET WHAT YOU WANT
Support Life, Seek Truth, Set Your Course—so begins The Code, the set of principles that have guided Tony Burroughs and that he has spent the last two decades sharing with the world. (The Code is reproduced in full on the next page.) When Burroughs was a young man in Hawai’i, he learned to farm from an older philosopher-farmer who lived nearby. Through the ten years the two men worked side-by-side, initially unbeknownst to him, Burroughs was also schooled in The Information, a series of oral lessons about how to live a life filled with love, peace and abundance.
In GET WHAT YOU WANT: The Art of Making and Manifesting Your Intentions (publishing November 11, $16.95 paperback original) Burroughs has gathered together the tenets of The Information for the first time. At the core of these teachings is conscious manifesting—collecting your desires in a context “for the highest good” and stating them aloud to a consistent and supportive circle of fellow intenders. Burroughs has been sharing this technique since he left Kona in the 90s and there are now more than a million people all over the world who meet regularly in Intenders Circles and manifest all they can imagine. The network is knitted together in a grassroots association called The Intenders of the Highest Good.
Tony Burroughs is an author, storyteller and a cofounder of The Intenders of the Highest Good, a grassroots community movement with Intenders Circles in countries all over the world. Also the author of the popular daily email message called The Intenders Bridge at intenders.org, Burroughs lives in Mount Shasta, California.
