Designer Susan Hugo creates an urban chic line of handbags that are casual enough to compliment jeans, yet classy enough to show off with more formal attire.
“As far as my color choice, I think that both red and turquoise are the perfect accent colors since they both look great with black and neutrals. They are complimentary colors so they hang well together and both pop and catch your eye,” says Hugo.

And she’s right. While I test drove, walked, and fluttered about the state with my 7Street Zip-Swirl in red (of course), I didn’t feel the need to swap out bags for a second. The swirls of black and white went with my neutrals, the red accentuated my wardrobe, and at times gave it a color “pop”, and there is even a touch of cool colored magenta seamlessly and artistically blended in the bag that works with my brighter, bolder fashions. The West Coast vibe translated easily into East Coast urban as passersby looked at my leather wristlet and it caught their attention. It’s different. It’s bold yet blendable into any wardrobe. It’s portable, exciting, and you’ll just love the way the soft leather feels between your fingers.
I was pleasantly surprised when the couture wristlet complimented my magenta coat with a hot pink swirl. The colors coordinated with cool as well as neutral tones.
Beyond color, which I must admit I love showing off my signature red in a beautiful bag, the silver hardware is bold, yet elegant, with the wristlet chain that has a nice weight to it. The zipper is anything but wimpy, which allows your fingers a good grasp. And – 7Street didn’t miss the mark as many designers do – both the side slit and the inner zipper pouch comfortably hold a cell phone without wedging it in. (One of my pet peeves is paying for a purse, and then you don’t have a single place to put your smart phone! My iPhone now loves its new 7Street home!)
Sometimes I want something small enough to hold my essentials without it weighing me down. The “Swirl” accomplishes that. I can comfortably tuck in some cash, credit cards, a small mirror, a lip gloss, my phone, and I’m good to go. It’s bigger than a wallet, but smaller than a purse. There are enough compartments to separate everything in an organized way so you don’t have to fumble, stumble, and search for something.
