Fashion icon Tommy Hilfiger hosted the Golden Door International Film Festival kickoff party on Tuesday, September 16th, in Jersey City, NJ at the famous old-style Landmark Loew's Theatre. And when where Tommy goes, the glitterati shows.
The prestigious Golden Door Film Festival was founded by actor and director Bill Sorvino, so that every filmmaker has an opportunity, or a 'Golden Door', so they can be on equal footing. Over the course of four days, some of the most inspirational and sensational film screenings will take place, honoring the talents of those propelling the entertainment industry forward.
Bill Sorvino and his family were center stage the entire night of the kickoff party, as he celebrated his signing the contract between Rebirth Entertainment and Kismet Media Group. Guests also got to see a softer side of him, too, as he made sure that his children got their red carpet moments, and his wife, the Director of Operations for the festival, Michele, and his mother all shared the spotlight.
Actors, celebrities, filmmakers, producers, and paparazzi were all present. Hey, when you're in Jersey, you go big, or you go home - and no one was going home that night!
Zaperrazzi Vodka, one of the festival sponsors, kept the cocktails flowing throughout the evening with red carpet themed libations, and there was an abundance of mouth watering finger food on hand, as well.
It was a night of networking and acknowledgement, but everyone truly took time out to enjoy themselves, gearing up for over 90 films to be screened, spanning ten venues in Jersey City, from September 18 - September 21.
The highly anticipated screening of Six Letter Word and The Odd Way Home, both starring Rumer Willis, debut at the festival on its opening night. Autism Speaks is a sponsor of Golden Door Film Festival, and each of these films is centered around autism.
Friday night's focal point is the feature film, DESTRESSED, a docu-dramedy directed by actor and director Garry Pastore. There will be DESTRESSED red wine, on the red carpet accompanying the screening, bottled by Riondo USA.
Pastore also has a second film at the festival, Waiting for BUDD.
On Saturday, there's so much going on everywhere, that you may need to clone yourself to see it all. However, you shouldn't miss seeing one of my favorite short film picks, Two Sides Of Love, produced by 624 Productions, led by the up-and-coming Artistic Director Tom Baldinger.
The Odd Way Home has a special screening event in Washington Park that evening, and Sister holds its red carpet event.
On Sunday, there's still an abundance of films for your viewing pleasure, and the four-day event concludes with a gala closing and award presentation, where it all began at the Landmark Loew's Theatre.
There still are some tickets available to certain events and screenings, but they are selling fast! Be sure to grab yours quickly here!
If you shop at Tommy Hilfiger in the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ starting Thursday 9/18 through Saturday 9/20, 10% of all sales will benefit the Golden Door International Film Festival of Jersey City. Support indie films and autism awareness at the same time!
