the story...
Once upon a time, there was a young girl who got her groove on writing. She had a lot to say and found it easy to put on paper. All through intermediate and high school she wrote for and was editor of the school paper. Her journalism teacher inspired her and taught her so much!
At the age of 17 she was first published in Young Miss (YM) magazine which was the predecessor to Teen Vogue. This wowed her. She was just a Jersey girl from Toms River who took a shot at getting published in a big-time magazine, and she did it! She now had the confidence she needed to go forth and write! There was a college professor along the way who took pleasure in using up his red ink on the short stories and papers she wrote; but The Lady in Red knew better - she already put herself out there and succeeded getting published while this guy, was on some power trip trying to intimidate young, creative writers. She would show him! (and has!) Time went by and she got published in New Jersey Countryside Magazine, and Country Magazine, and a few other publications here and there. Finally, she had the opportunity to pursue her writing dreams full force and give it a go. Now, you can find The Lady in Red writing all over the place, including blogging for Patch media, and she shares the airwaves with Chef Amanda Nahas on radio every month in Atlantic City broadcasting "Gourmania" on 1400 AM. As her readership and listnership grew, and her list of publications got longer, she decided her writing needed a home; hence - TheLadyinRedBlog.com was born. She's not a niche blogger. She doesn't write about just one thing. She writes about everything and anything from blind Canadian nature photographers, to rescuing baby bunnies in her backyard during a hurricane, to meeting Jon Bon Jovi while at the Soul Kitchen for lunch. (Yes, he's a really nice guy in person.) So you never know what she'll write about next! She likes keeping readers on their toes, and her hope is to write about a little something for everyone over time. For those who take the time to come on over to TheLadyinRedBlog.com, there will always be something special to read that you won't be able to find anywhere else. You can still visit here and read all of her works, but she recognizes those who click on over by giving them special glimpses into her world only published here, and no place else! She's got a few books in the works and hopefully you'll see one published in the not-so-distant future. (No, she won't tell you what it's about - it's a surprise!) Since the launch of TheLadyinRedBlog.com, the Lady in Red has taken flight on radio, too! You can catch her fiery radio personality from time to time on different broadcasts throughout the U.S., and can always listen in world-wide. Media expansion is definitely in her future! So give this blogger-writer-mom of a little girl, a miniature poodle, a step-cat, and a gold dust gecko a whirl. Her favorite color is purple. (I know! Not what you'd expect!) She loves a glass of wine with dinner and is into gardening and cooking. She's a figure skater and a seasonal kayaker. She maintains that cold veggie lo mein is better than hot. She wears Jimmy Choo shoes while broadcasting on the radio! You'll learn more quirky facts about her over time. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll love some of her stuff, and probably disagree with her sometimes, too. She welcomes it. The more comments, the better. She's always watching and loves to join in the conversation. The key to writing is keeping it fresh and allowing people to hear you. Anyone can read your words, but few people can really speak to others. The Lady in Red writes from the heart, to inspire yours. Oh, and the burning question: Where did she get the name The Lady in Red? A good friend once told her red was her color. Perhaps it is. Red is passionate, hot, sexy, vivacious, bold, and on fire. You don't blend in wearing red, that's for sure. She likes to stand out in the crowd and make her presence known. |
