Screening to include the debut of Destressed Red wine, a collaboration with pioneering winemakers, Riondo USA.
DESTRESSED, the award-winning docu-drama-dy feature film, will be screened at an exclusive headlining VIP red-carpet screening at Panepinto Galleries (371 Warren Street, Jersey City, NJ 07302) on Friday, September 19 at 7:30pm, as an Official Selection of the Golden Door International Film Festival, hosted by actors Paul Sorvino and Mira Sorvino, both of whom will be in attendance as part of the celebrity audience.
DESTRESSED has played to crowds who have laughed and cried at the story of a man whose stress levels place him in the hospital in grave condition. After much soul searching and another chance at life he embarks on an amazing and often hilarious cross-country journey to search for his Zen. The story of one man's insane search for sanity in an insane world, he meets victims of the tornado that struck Moore, Oklahoma, as well as Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey, putting into perspective how one's own problems can seem small when compared to the challenges overcome by others.
"Hearing people laughing at some parts of the film, sitting in stunned silence, and leaving in tears, proves how powerful this film is, both as entertainment and an important piece of art," says Garry Pastore, who directed and stars in the film, which took over three years to shoot. Award-winning cinematographer Fokke Baarsssen served as producer and director of photography and gave DESTRESSED amazing camera work and scene quality to complement Pastore's emotional script.
This film screening isn’t just a film screening, though. It’s also a red wine on the red carpet event!
“There will be wine and cheese at the red carpet! Try not to spill any on the carpet!” jokes Garry Pastore.
Pastore was introduced to the owners of Riondo USA and they saw DESTRESSED. He told them red wine can be good for reducing stress, and as Pastore puts it, “…the rest is history!”
“Destressed wine is robust, yet delicate, full and flavorful, and great with a hearty meal or perfect for that end of the day wind down. After all DE-STRESSED is the name,” comments Pastore on the wine notes.
“Destressed Red wine will be in stores after the New Year, and the book and other goodies by November,” shares Pastore on the future merchandising of the movie.
DESTRESSED's Garry Pastore, who also produced the film and penned a companion book, has performed over 50 TV and movie roles in his 35-year career. He was nominated for a 2012 SAG Award for his contributions to the mega-hit film The Dark Night Rises, and an ensemble Emmy Award for his work on the acclaimed TV show 30 Rock. His directorial debut, WAITING FOR ...BUDD (2009) won multiple awards during the 2010 film festival circuit, including Best Director and Best Picture at the NYIFF and SIFF. The entertainment industry is no stranger to Garry Pastore as he is also actor Vincent Pastore’s (The Sopranos) cousin.
The screening at Panepinto Galleries will follow a cocktail party featuring the debut of Destressed Red wine, a new collaboration between Garry Pastore and Riondo USA Wines. Since 2006, Riondo USA has been a pioneer and innovator in the American wine industry, being one of the first to introduce a then little-known Italian varietal, Prosecco, to the U.S. Destressed Red will bring Riondo USA's high-quality standards to consumers so they can help de-stress from an insane world.
