Do you want to golf better just by sitting on your butt? What about study and test better after listening to a recording? Does that sound appealing? Love better and reignite passion? There’s a CD or digital download for that! Have trouble unwinding at the end of the day and need to relax? You can de-stress with Techniques for Managing Stress. Does this all sound too good to be true? Well, it’s not!
There’s this duo, instrumentalist Jeff Gold, and certified hypnotherapist, Janet Montgomery, who have musical hypnotic solutions for almost anything.
Many times my head is full of ideas and to-do lists; I’m thinking about things I said and analyzing what happened over the past dozen hours, and just want to take it down a notch.
As a result, I tried The Live Well Series Sleep Well CD and was pretty impressed. The instrumental music coinciding with the instruction of how to relax and let the tension go from your head, to your neck, shoulders, and throughout your body was really effective. I actually found myself breathing slower, and it was becoming harder to focus on the million things which were moments before fluttering around in my mind. Maybe this works because, after all, a hypnotherapist is sharing her calming techniques in a step by step fashion in conjunction with a soothing musical composition.

The Live Well Series is a selection of CD’s (or if you want to, you can download the hypnotic relaxing music sometimes accompanied by the soothing voice of instruction on how to breathe slower and calm your mind at Amazon or on iTunes), that really centers you and slows down your racing mind.
Most interesting to me was The 11 Minute Nap selection. I have trouble napping. It seems like just as I’m shutting my eyes, it’s time to get up. I challenged this selection to really refresh my mind more than a cup of coffee could. You know what? It did. Again, the tension releasing techniques combined with the relaxing music engaged my senses, so I slowed down and recharged my batteries, when I didn’t have the time to lounge around for a few hours; and it didn’t leave me jumpy like caffeine could.
Probably my favorite CD is Simple Treasures, which consists of twelve lyricless soothing songs with a slow tempo, produced solely by Jeff Gold primarily on keyboard, guitar, violin, and flute. The composition of original music allows you to set the scenery with your mind, as you can drift off into any dimension that you want to, without any kind of verbal queues on what to do. It’s great driving music for winding roads, or background music for writing or studying. Have a listen to samples of this CD or others here, to see what I’m talking about.
What’s also interesting is that children sometimes have trouble falling asleep, too, and there is the Sleep Well for Kids “Under the Sea” Relax at Bedtime CD, specifically designed to take them on a sleepy adventure while floating on a cloud to the ocean, engaging their imagination, and whisking them off to dreamland in 45 |
The key is that you learn by repetition. If you listen to any of these selections a few times a week, you train your mind and body to slow down and focus, and it learns these patterns, incorporating them seamlessly into a routine.
So if you’ve got that student in mind for the holidays, or that wanna-be-better golfer, or maybe a friend that could use less stress, consider giving them the gift of “guided imagery and soothing music” from The Live Well Series. Now if they only made one to calm down hyper puppies! ;)
